Monday, April 1: Jakesprinter’s Sunday Post this week is Entrance: Entrance generally refers to the place of entering like a gate or door, or the permission to do so.
I have been fascinated by Oman’s entrances & doors for over a year now. Here is a bit of my collection.
All men have one entrance into life, and the like going out.
~ Solomon Ibn Gabirol

What memories you’re going to have of your time in Oman, Cath! These are fabulous! My favourite, the amazing shot of the upstairs entrance.
Thanks so much, Jo. I’m so glad I’ve written a blog and taken so many pictures because it will keep the memories alive. I still look often at my Korea blog and remember my times there. I too love that upstairs view of the multiple entrances at the Ibra ruins. 🙂
So many colourful and interestingly designed entrances you’ve been through, Cathy. That tall, red Omani door is my favourite. 🙂
I wish I had actually been “through” these doors. Maybe I can’t help but photograph them because I wonder about the lives within. That red door is great, isn’t it? Thanks so much, Sylvia! 🙂
Wow, some collection of entrances Cathy! The Ibra arches are my picks 🙂
Thanks, Madhu. I love those Ibra ruins. I’m convinced they are the best in Oman. 🙂
Stunning individually, collectively they’re beyond spectacular. I’m speechless, Cathi – just great 🙂
Thanks so much, Meredith. I’m glad I finally had an excuse to put them together as a group! 🙂
This is a lovely collection of doors. They are so much more interesting than the majority of the doors we have here!
You’re right, Elaine. There are a lot of great doors in old neighborhoods, like in the Fan in Richmond, but on more modern homes, you rarely see interesting doors.
Wonderful, I love the art and design of the Islamic world.
Me too, Gilly! I wish I had been more of a photographer when I visited Egypt and Jordan!!
You know how I love these doors! Wish I could have one on my house…
Me too, Ruth! I love them too. I guess that’s why I keep taking pictures of them wherever I go. 🙂
Cathy – have you thought about creating a calendar just with beautiful entrance doors like these? The colors and creativity are endless here…..beautiful
A calendar is another great idea. Someone else suggested a book. I would love to do them both; but somehow I don’t see myself or my work as “professional” enough. It is truly a lovely idea!! 🙂
Keep listening and you may just believe that you have it in you… 🙂
Thanks so much, Annette!

Oh, love, love, love! I can’t single one out – I love them each, and I love that people in this part of the world pay so much attention to the aesthetics of doors, gates and entrances. When my son was deployed to southern Afghanistan he took as many pictures as he could of the gates. I think the gate to the farm in Al Hamra is the most similar to those he saw. These are really nice!
Thank you so much, Lynn. I love all the doors in Oman, I don’t know why. They always draw me to them. Maybe because I can rarely go inside and I would love to see what goes on behind them. I bet your son has some great photos. I hope he’ll post them one day for everyone to see!
Have you thought about doing an Oman book? Shutterfly often runs discounts on books.
I HAVE thought of doing a book! That would be great fun. I’ll check into Shutterfly, Lynn. Thanks for letting me know. 🙂
Good!
Awesome entry my friend,Thanks for sharing ,love it 🙂
Glad you like it, Jake. I’ve been collecting these doors for a long time and was just waiting for the right time to show them. 🙂

Beautiful selections for the entrance. Especially like the entrances to ruins through Munisifeh!
Thank you so much, Amy. I love those Munisefeh ruins!
