Love the dresses.
Thank you Carol!
The purple traditional costumes are my favorite. Never seen the purple flower (the first one).
Thank you Shaanthz! I don’t know what that flower is either!

Well, you may not have many photos with purple in them, but these sure are great!
Gorgeous photographs!
nicely done!!! here is my own version of the photo challenge …http://langaeh.wordpress.com/2012/07/28/weekly-photo-challenge-purple/
Wow, lots of purple. I like the dresses!
Thank you Jean!
Oh wow! Fine selection, but the top picture takes the cake. I never participate in the challenges, I don’t even own a camera, but I love checking out the responses. Seeing entries from the perspective of different cultures is such a rich and rewarding experience to blog-surfing.
Thank you irisoniris! I’m glad you like the photos. I love seeing photos from people’s travels as well, and I’m constantly adding things to my Bucket List whenever I see something cool. It’s fun to live vicariously through other bloggers!
Agreed! I think that’s a huge chunk of the appeal of blog-writing AND blog-reading. have a great weekend!
Thank you!
Such a beautiful ‘purple’… love them..
Thank you Bams!
What beautiful dresses! Your photo shows them well. When would Omani women wear this type of dress?
Thank you Ruth! Yes, I think they would wear them but usually at weddings or such formal occasions. Although the one on the left looks like a belly-dancing costume, which I’ve never seen in Oman!! Maybe behind closed doors??
These are really great; esp. love the Omani costumes, all that elaborate beading…beautiful. I bet they feel as fantastic to wear as they look. I’m having trouble with this purple post. Will most likely have to stage something to photograph. Purple is not the ordinary photo, is it? Well done!
Thank you Veronica! I’m glad you enjoyed them. Yes, I was sad to find I didn’t have many purples in my archives. This was about it! I don’t know why this is b/c purple is my favorite color!
Good luck, can’t wait to see yours!
All bursting with purple … love your m-i-l’s flower
Thank you Paula!!

Beautiful purple selections. I too think the Omani costumes are incredible and would be so much fun to wear, although not necessarily in 90+ degree weather! Your mother-in-law’s flower, by the way, is an Allium.
Yes, I think they would be quite heavy to wear in this heat, but then the females continue to wear the abaya and shayla throughout the hottest months. I think they are more acclimated to it than we are…. Oh thanks for telling me what the flower is… I’ll have to go edit my post!!
Very nice grasp of “purple” !!!!
love the eggplants!
Thank you, suitablefish!
so exotic! great interpretation of this week’s theme!

Was thinking that first costume can’t be very normal Omani wear
Gorgeous though, as are all the other shots.
No, it’s definitely not normal Omani wear. But who knows what they wear in the privacy of their homes! It doesn’t look very comfortable either!

Thank you, Anita!
This is a really nice variety of photos. I like them all, and not just because purple is my favorite color.
Thank you Naomi! Purple is my favorite color too!
