Saturday, December 8: Today is Daydream Saturday, and I’m dreaming of Morocco.
From the Atlas Mountains to the Rif to Saharan dunes and oases, from Casablanca to Marrakech to Fez, Morocco has enticed me for a long time. This summer, I am hoping to explore Morocco, along with Spain and Portugal, for a kind of Moorish expedition.
If anyone would like to join me in a Daydream Saturday, or a daydream any-day-of-the-week, please join me in the fun by putting a link to your daydreams in the comments below. I hope you’ll come along. 🙂

Kathryn, I guess I should have said I collected the photos from google images. They’re not mine, since I haven’t yet been there. But it’s fun to see photos and visualize your dreams! 🙂

love Morocco, been twice and the images are just like the ones above!
catbirdinoman said:
Great, I’m glad to hear it. I actually was considering Croatia as a destination as well, for a week I may have off in January, but when I looked at the winter temperatures, I figured it better wait!
Our Adventure in Croatia said:
no…. Croatia is good in Spring and Summer, from April-May for sightseeing, June-September for the beach, Oct-Nov sightseeing. Jan is cold… sunny blue sky, but cold…
catbirdinoman said:
Yes, I figured it would be. I still would love to come there in warmer weather though!

I can’t wait!!! 🙂

I found Marrakech rather touristy and Fes was more traditional. My one piece of advice is stay in a Riad rather than in a hotel.
catbirdinoman said:
Thanks for the great advice, Andrew. I’ve written it down in my travel plans. 🙂
restlessjo said:
I would love to stay in a riad! You following WordPress advice to start a challenge, Cathy? This is quite a nice idea. I’m sure I could fill a week of daydreams all by myself! Having photo malfunctions at present but if I sort them out I may join you.
catbirdinoman said:
I hope you will, Jo. Part of the great fun of life is our dreams. I would love to see what other bloggers’ dreams are. Please do join me. I’ve done this three Saturdays so far, and this was the first time I thought to invite others to do it with me. I’d love it! 🙂
I will definitely look into staying in a riad. Another person suggested that as well. 🙂

My parents did exactly that trip in March – Morocco, Spain and Portugal. They loved it!

It sounds wonderful! How much time did they take?
JustaCaliGirl said:
Wow! Now I’m dreaming of Morocco too.
catbirdinoman said:
I can’t tell you how long I’ve been dreaming of Morocco. I’ve really built it up in my mind, so I really hope it delivers. 🙂

I have a friend who went there a few years ago and had a fabulous time..I think it will 🙂

Amazing set of captures. Morocco is very photogenic. One of my favorite areas to photograph.
catbirdinoman said:
Hi Kurt, I wish I could claim the photos as my own, but in my disclaimer, as I note in my post, I didn’t take these pictures. Since I have never yet been to Morocco ~ it is still just a daydream for me ~ I couldn’t have taken the pictures. 🙂 But thanks so much for your compliment on the pictures found right on the internet. 🙂

Morocco is on my list! I highly recommend the west coast of Portugal. Fabulous deserted beaches and little towns, many of them barely touched by tourism. I have a few pics on my blog.
catbirdinoman said:
Ok, Ruth, I will definitely check out your pictures! Thanks for the advice!
Robin said:
Morocco is on my list of places I hope to someday visit. 🙂
catbirdinoman said:
I REALLY HOPE to get there this year, Robin. But we’ll see what the future holds. It’s all about how much money I can save. And here’s to hoping for no emergencies!

Morocco is a fantastic place to visit, Cathy – though it’s been 40 years since I was there and I see from various wonderful galleries of recent pictures that it’s changed a good deal since I was there! I went with friends when the snow melted in the Alps and we were out of work all of a sudden. Except for the Atlas mountains, January seemed like the perfect time to go, so perhaps your daydreams could be coming around sooner than you’d planned?
I love this idea of a daydreaming post – perhaps if I’ll allow myself to have a Daydreaming day to take a peek at some of my Sri Lankan pix once I’ve eventually gone home to Oz.
catbirdinoman said:
I hope you will join me in your daydreams, Meredith. I really do hope I can go in January!! I’m sure it would be wonderful.
The Wanderlust Gene said:
I’m sure i won’t be able to go cold turkey, Cathy, so it will be perfect to have a few daydreams of my old life here in Paradise!
Fingers crossed for Morocco 🙂

Thanks, Meredith. Can’t wait to see your daydreams!
