Saturday, February 9: The WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge is Home.
In a new post specifically created for this challenge, share a picture that evokes HOME for you.
It might be the place where you live, or a more abstract representation, or something completely different.
Here are some homes I discovered on a 15 km walk from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan in Nepal.

I was interested to see that the houses in Nepal were painted in such bright colors.
I love the African huts.
Thanks, Rosie. I was very surprised by how brightly colored everything in Nepal was. It was so cheery, especially considering the poverty.
These photos are so interesting, but they make me really grateful that I live where I do!
Yes, I know what you mean, eternal traveler!
great photos! i love the colourful houses!
Thank you, Evelyn. I’m so glad you liked them!
Thank you, it was like a cup of sunshine opening up your post this morning!
Awww, you’re sweet, Dallas. Thank you for coming to visit again.
You’ve certainly nailed this challenge, Cathy. Wonderful photos of these people’s homes. Love the one with the mustard drying on the roof.
Thanks, Sylvia. I loved the colorful houses in Nepal. Even though they had dirt floors and the people were very poor, they took pride in their homes.

Great collection of homes that are definitely off our beaten path, but depict the reality of cultures. How decorative they are with whatever materials they have, be it round mud homes or colorfully painted windows and doors.Love the mustard drying on the roof.
Thanks, Lynne. Yes, I always find it interesting to see how people construct their homes out of whatever materials are abundant in their landscapes. Those tukul huts in Ethiopia really blended perfectly with the environment, so much so that in rural areas, the landscape looked totally unpopulated.

Such wonderful homes aren’t they? It is a privilege to see them.
Thanks Gilly! I was lucky to go on this rural hike and run across these homes along the trail.

Those intense blue skies…and I like the fact that you found out what’s drying on the roof. Great!
Thank you, Lynn.

These are great. The colour of the sky in Nepal is fantastic, and looks so good with the colours of the houses. The tukul huts look very tall!
Thank you, Elaine. That day in Nepal was beautiful. Anytime I was in Kathmandu, though, the air was filled with pollution. I could hardly see more than a couple of blocks.
You’re right, some of those tukul huts were two stories tall!
Lovely shots of rural homes Cathy. I like the Ethiopian huts particularly.
Thank you, Madhu! I love those Ethiopian huts too. They blend so naturally with the landscape.
I love the bright colors in the Nepali homes, and those huts are pretty cool.
Yes, Robin, I loved the bright paint on the homes too. They may have had dirt floors, but they were mostly swept clean and the houses were brightly painted. Even though poor, the Nepalis seemed to take pride in their homes.
love these pics..I want to go there one day ! have fun dear,..thanks for sharing
Thanks so much, Kavita!
